How Couriers Choice works

You will be picking up and delivering small items (letters, packages, boxes, etc.) in the Chicagoland area.
Orders become available as follows:
- A delivery company receives an order from their customer.
- The company determines a price they are willing to pay a carrier to perform the delivery, called the "offer price" (this is the full price you will receive).
- The company enters the delivery information, including the offer price, onto the Alternative Courier load board.
At this point the delivery is available to Couriers Choice carriers.

If the delivery is one that you are interested in (according to set criteria), you will be notified of the posting real-time by e-mail, and you can view it on your Android device using the Couriers Choice Android app. You can then:
- do nothing
- accept the offer price
- or bid a higher or lower price to do the delivery

If you are the first to accept the offer price, you will be awarded the delivery.
If you submit a bid, the company posting the order will consider your bid along with any others that have been submitted.
NOTE: If a bid comes in that is lower than the offer price, at that point you can no longer accept the offer price. if you try to, you will be asked if you want to instead submit a bid equal to the offer price.

Once you have submitted a bid it will remain a live open bid until:
- the posting company accepts your bid or someone else's;
- the posting company withdraws the shipment; or
- you withdraw your bid.
If you decide you don't want to do a delivery you bid on or want to submit a different bid, it's best to withdraw your bid immediately because if the posting company accepts your bid you will have to perform the delivery.

The posting company will then decide if they want to accept a bid. If yours is accepted, you will be notified by e-mail real time, and you will be expected to start and complete the delivery on time.

You will use the Android application to send back real-time status codes (when you arrive at and depart from pick-up and delivery), and to send the POD (proof of delivery) signature of recipient. They will sign on the screen, you will also type their name, and the app will send the written and typed names. At this point the job will be considered complete.

You will invoice us for completed deliveries and we will pay you. "Accessorial" charges (billable activities not included in the original price, such as waiting time), may also be billed.
